Chaneice started writing as a young girl. Her work dates back to when she was just 8 years old. As a child, before school, Chaneice would wake up early every day at 6 AM to watch the morning news on Channel 11. As she watched, she would note what time the sun was to set that evening. After school, she would go home and plan to be outside during the time that the sun would set. Chaneice calls this time, The Sunset Channel. It's where she found her inspiration for writing, and when she found peace in her day.
The Sunset Channel began as a series that Chaneice started writing at 14 years old. Since then, she has expanded on her work and what had started as the 808 series, has now became her first collection of poetry.
Chaneice's work touches on love, expression, spirituality, trauma, loss, mental health, addiction, grief, and healing.
Chaneice graduated from Bowling Green State University. Her areas of study include psychology, neurobiology, sociology, and social work.
Chaneice is currently employed as a Case Manager at a Women's Residential Treatment Facility. She helps those who struggle with substance use disorders and mental health diagnoses.
My audience influences my work in the most inspired of ways. I write to touch those who feel as misunderstood as I have.
Those who understand my writing, and where I'm writing from have always provided me with the encouragement I need to
keep going.
If you think that I'm writing about you, it's because I am.

The Sunset Channel began when I was a young girl, in middle school. Every morning I would wake up and watch the news to catch the weather, current events, and to see what time the sun would be setting that evening. When school was out and I was home, I would go out in the backyard with a pen and some paper and wait for the sun to set. During this time, I would write in anticipation of my favorite 'channel'. No sunset is ever the same.
I would frantically write pages and pages until the sun was barely visible. I'd watch it sink below the horizon, and then go inside.
I write too fast to worry about punctuation, grammar, any of that mess. My favorite subject in school was always English and Science. I love to read. I promise, if any of my teachers or professors see this--I do know proper English! LOL
My mind races, that's why I write. I write exactly how my mind communicates it to my hands. I leave it at that.
It's my work! I tried to query my book for several months in 2021, and absolutely no one would bite. I did get a small publisher out of Chicago to get involved, but the company wanted me to edit the "me" out of my book. The grammar was trash in spots, the punctuation and capitalization was killer...but that's how I wrote it. I wrote The Sunset Channel exactly how I wanted it. When I began to explore publishing, I knew I wanted my art exactly how I dreamt it up.
I'm a control freak, so I just started the process myself and actually ended up loving it. It was worth all of the stress to keep my art MY art.
I'm going to be doing a few events this year and next hear to help other writers and authors through their journey of publishing--stay tuned!
