People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.

about the sunset channel

the story

The Sunset Channel is a collection of writing that was inspired from feeling misunderstood amongst the realities of life. Using the chaos in her mind, the writing of Chaneice Jones touches on love, expression, spirituality, trauma, loss, mental health, addiction, grief, and healing. The Sunset Channel was written in hopes that those who feel misunderstood can find themselves between the pages feeling its intentions deeply, with mutual understanding.

This story entails my life's collection of writing starting from my early childhood I pulled pieces from journals, diaries, scarps of paper, school work, etc., and compiled them into my first self-published work, The Sunset Channel. As an undergrad at BGSU, I took a creative writing class where my professor encouraged me to continue to write after I submitted an excerpt of this book for a class project. She said whatever it was, or however it came out, just continue to write. I learned about publishing, editing, and what it looked like to become vulnerable. I knew absolutely nothing about publishing, but I knew my passion for reading, writing, and art. I took what I knew and became an author.

The Sunset Channel transformed by hobby into something more professional and profound. It was the crossover between my sacred secrets, my life, and complete transparency. I chose to allow everyone to connect to me through my art, my soul lined on paper. People understood, they read, and they have supported this journey. To everyone who has been with me since TSC, thank you.

I love you.
